The Future of
Imaginal Healing
|
As we reclaim the skills of dreaming, imagery for healing will become central to our medicine. Advances in hard scientific research, especially in the fast-expanding field of psychoneuroimmunology, have helped provide the mandate, because they supply overwhelming evidence that the body believes in images, and that our thoughts and feelings can make us sick or make us well. |

The feeling - is the Prayer. All of the things that we do (incense, candles, chanting, rituals) is to create the feeling. The feeling is the Prayer. - Abbot of a Tibetan Monastery
I find it amusing when people write up complicated spells involving all sorts of special herbs, oils, colored candles, prayers and incantations for various purposes. While I definitely believe in the power of spiritual ritual, that power doesn't come from the tools employed but from the energetic shift that occurs when we summon the forces of creation to fulfill our desires. While others' rituals may provide inspiration, we are wise to remember that the real work happens on a metaphysical level, so the same results could be achieved through prayer, meditation, and other inner processes.
